Every day at Cairn Hill Summer Program is carefully planned to offer exploration and fun activities connected to a weekly theme, leaving plenty of time for play and rest when needed. Cairn Hill Nature Preschool Summer Program July - August 2020
July 6th to July 10th All about water We will explore many things about ocean life and creatures, and also observe our nearby pond. We will create fun experiment with water and discover its properties . We will use sand and rocks for art creations. We will also try a recipe with seaweed!
July 13th to July 17th Fly, roll, float We will explore the world of transportation and create our own little models ourt of recycled materials, or natural material. We will get an opportunity to try them! We will also create a connection with our own means of travel and animal ones. July 20th to July 24th Our Planet Earth We will learn about the planet we live on and why it is important to protect it. We will learn about recyclingand use materials to create musical instruments and enjoy playing with mud. We will create colorful juices with fruits and vegetables.
July 27th to July 31st Bugs and other Little Creatures Field guides in hand we will learn about “bug life.” We will search outside with our magnifying glasses and look for flying or crawling creatures around the school. We will learn how they impact our environment . We might even dig into our compost to observe worms. We will make "bug art" and even enjoy edible bugs! August 3rd to 7th Colors of Nature We will explore the abundant nature around the school, and enjoy all the colors of summer. We will use natural materials that can be found outdoors to create colorful experiments and art projects. We will also prepare a healthy and colorful summer snack that children will enjoy! August 10th to August 14th Garden Fun We will closely examine our garden and learn about vegetables and flowers--how they grow and how to take care of them. We will use what we pick including the flowers and herbs to create art pieces, and will cook colorful, delicious recipes!
August 17th to August 21st A tree life We will learn about the trees around us, how important they are for us and how they impact our life and the life of animals. We will use tree material for art and plant a tree around our school.
August 24th to August 28th Please note that August 28th will be a half day and program will close at 1 PM All about Weather We will learn about the weather. We will measure the temperatures every day. We will do some "wind art" , observe the clouds and learn how they can make rain. The recipe of the week will be “rain clouds in a jar!”
